Fishing Vessel |
Model test programs for the commercial fishing sector are conducted using
any one of a number of facilities. The 22 Meter Flume
Tank is used to evaluate new fishing gear or to improve the efficiency of
existing systems. Low-cost programs for fishing vessel hull forms are conducted
using the 58 Meter Towing Tank. Navigation
issues are addressed using the Centre for Marine
Simulation, supported as required by seakeeping and
maneuvering data extracted from tests using the
Offshore Engineering Basin and the
Planar Motion Mechanism. A test program using the state-of-the-art Dynamometer
can reliably evaluate fuel saving appendages at model scale before the expense
of a full-scale trial, to an accuracy of a few percent. Our physical model testing
capabilities are supported by leading-edge numerical analysis,
and full-scale trials.
