    Headquartered in St. John's, NL, Oceanic Consulting Corporation provides contract research services in hydrodynamics and arctic engineering to the international marine industry. Using world-class testing facilities and industry-leading numerical simulation software, the firm analyzes the hydrodynamic behavior of everything from ship designs to offshore structures and other marine systems, providing clients with a demonstration of real-world performance. Oceanic is the ‘commercial front door’ to an alliance of marine research facilities in Newfoundland which includes the National Research Council of Canada’s Institute for Ocean Technology, Memorial University’s Ocean Engineering Research Centre, and Marine Institute.

    What experience do I need as a student?
    If you are interested in working on dynamic and innovative projects for internationally renowned clients and want to challenge the conventional, then let’s talk. Oceanic requires people from a variety of scientific and mathematical backgrounds including engineers, naval architects, applied mathematicians, physicists, programmers, technologists, and instrumentation personnel of all experience levels. In order to qualify for our work-term positions though you must have at least two academic semesters and two work-terms completed.

    Yes. Therefore you should apply to Oceanic at least one month before your work-term is due to begin.

    Will this be a paid work-term?
    Yes! Our work-term students earn ~$19/hour and will work, on average, 37.5 hours/week. Oceanic will also cover work permit fees, along with some travel and living expenses. Please contact our office directly for further details on remuneration and allowances.

  • Apply the engineering principles of your engineering education and training to solve practical problems in relation to the engineering safety, design and verification of offshore and marine structures.
