J. Michael Doucet, M.Eng., P.Eng., Senior Project Manager
Mr. Doucet graduated from Memorial University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Naval Architecture.
He also completed a Master’s of Engineering at Memorial in 1996 where he undertook cavitation tunnel experiments
to assess the cavitation erosion of ice-class propellers in blocked flow. After completing his degrees, Mr. Doucet
worked at Memorial until December 1997 with various projects related to propeller design and evaluation. He was
also involved in the development of Arctic Shipping Machinery Regulations aimed at improving design regulations for
ice-class propellers. Since 1998 Mr. Doucet has been employed with Oceanic where he has been engaged in a wide
range of areas related to resistance and propulsion, propeller design, maneuvering assessments, and seakeeping
evaluations. He is a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and
Labrador (PEG-NL). He is also a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and has
served on the Executive of its Canadian Atlantic Section.
